Biography

Childhood and studies in Basel

Oliver Camponovo, born in Switzerland, grew up in the Canton of Ticino in the southern part of Switzerland, a canton almost entirely surrounded by Italy (to the west, to the south and largely to the east). Here Italian is the official language and represents most of Italian Switzerland but a cultural minority in Switzerland. The desire to explore the world was already felt at a young age. In fact, Oliver decided to explore his surroundings while continuing his education in Basel.

In 1999 he obtained a Masters in Economics (lic.rer.pol.) At the Universität Basel. He then changed his residence for a while and also his language, preferring the official language of Basel, the Swiss variety of German. Due to its strategic position on the Swiss border between France and Germany, this city was a hotbed of cultural ideas, international connections and exciting new ideas for Oliver. Basel is a city that thrives on art, commerce and finance. This prompted Oliver to appreciate fine arts and increased his desire to explore the world.

The United States of America and the return to Switzerland

Oliver‘s studies did not stop only in Basel, but also found a way to the United States of America. In fact, Oliver had the opportunity to study at the University of California, Berkley. A considerably larger space than in little Basel. Here in 1997 he attended economics and international relations. Later he was also a guest at UT Austin where he got to taste the Texan spirit.

At this point Oliver then returned to Switzerland to complete his banking studies. However, his desire to travel has not died out and he has decided to concentrate it in the ideas of this site, so that he can share his experiences in discovering the world.
